Virtual event explores, celebrates what it takes for rural communities to thrive

The virtual gathering of the Rural Assembly —Rural Assembly Everywhere: Nurturing Thriving Communities —drew participants from all 50 states and the District of Columbia on Aug. 1.

A replay of the entire program is now available, and The Rural Assembly will release new, extended versions of some of the featured conversations in coming weeks.

Rural Assembly Everywhere featured conversations and stories from rural leaders, organizers, community workers and artists about what it means to nourish a thriving community; democracy and rural voters; the role of local art museums in community voice; and more.

Drawing Resilience: Caryl Hale

Caryl Hale is the executive director of the Norton Regional Health Foundation and amember of the Norton Arts Council in Norton, Kansas. Hale brings her experience in farming and foodsystems with her to both roles, helping to create rural health policies that center art and food production.
