Four communities to host in-person events for Rural Assembly Everywhere 2025

The Rural Assembly is pleased to announce that four communities from across the country will host in-person gatherings as part of the Rural Assembly Everywhere virtual event on Sept. 17.

Each partner will host events in their communities, bringing neighbors together to view the Rural Assembly Everywhere virtual programming and take part in local conversations and activities.

The in-person gatherings will be hosted by community members and organizations in the following locations:

  • Danville, Virginia | Hosted by Virginia Rural Health Association
  • Granite Falls, Minnesota | Hosted by Department of Public Transformation
  • Waynesburg, Pennsylvania |  Hosted by Green County community leaders
  • Northern Cheyenne Reservation, Montana |  Hosted by Wild Rose Center

“These four partners in Virginia, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and Northern Cheyenne Reservation represent a true range of what it means to be rural – Rural Assembly Everywhere is the exact place to celebrate that rural diversity,” said Taneum Fotheringill, Rural Assembly Director of Programs and Partnerships.

Each gathering will be hosted by and for the community it is located in, with local organizers leading the way. More information about registration for each gathering will be released later in the summer.

“Gathering with rural people in person and online is going to send a message that we believe in showing up for our rural places.” — Taneum Fotheringill

Rural Assembly Everywhere is the annual virtual gathering of the Rural Assembly, a program of the Center for Rural Strategies. The virtual broadcast features speakers, conversations, music, and other elements of rural culture. Now in its fifth year as a virtual gathering, Rural Assembly Everywhere brings together people from across the country who care deeply about their rural places, neighbors, and community issues.

“We have loved throwing the doors open online and being able to meet so many people and see connections made across the country, but we’ve missed the energy that comes from getting together with your neighbors and sharing a meal. This year we are excited to get to do both with the addition of our on-site partners,” Fotheringill said.

This year’s theme, “A Bigger Pie: Cultivating Abundance in a Time of Scarcity,” invites participants to challenge zero-sum thinking and explore how rural communities can expand opportunity, connection, and well being for all.

“We can’t wait for this tidal wave of energy on September 17,” Fotheringill said. “Gathering with rural people in person and online is going to send a message that we believe in showing up for our rural places.”

In addition to these four communities who Rural Assembly is partnering with, there will be more watch parties hosted by people and organizations across the country. More information about these watch parties will be announced soon!
