Midwest Rural Assembly

The Midwest Rural Assembly, a regional network of rural advocates and leaders, met August 16-17 for two days of discussing rural issues in South Sioux City, Nebraska. Participants heard speakers (like Deputy Under Secretary for USDA Rural Development Victor Vasquez’s keynote on the future of rural development policy) and held small group forums on topics such as broadband, energy sovereignty on reservations, and the Farm Bill 2012.

The National Rural Assembly helped support this regional gathering and members of the Rural Assembly steering committee participated in the event.
