The 2012 farm bill and rural youth

The federal farm bill is about a lot more than agriculture, says Janney Lockman of WMMT-FM. In this report prepared for the community radio station in Whitesburg, Kentucky, Janney focuses on the impact of the farm bill on rural youth. Aside from ag provisions such as crop subsidy programs, the bill provides funding for rural development, broadband access, nutrition programs,  and other measures that have a role in building healthier, stronger rural communities that support youth.

Participants in the report include Nella Parks of Oregon Rural Action, Dee Davis of the Center for Rural Strategies, and Whitney Kimball Coe, coordinator of the National Rural Assembly. (See a video interview with Nella recorded at the 2010 Rural Youth Assembly.)
