Join a diverse network of rural leaders and problem solvers with the Rural Assembly!
The Rural Assembly is a movement of people and organizations devoted to building a smarter, greener, more inclusive Rural America. We work to help current rural leaders find their voices and to help emerging leaders build agency. In the next two years, the Rural Assembly will strengthen relationships with rural leaders who lift up marginalized voices, especially ones working with communities of color, young people, immigrants, and women.
How can you get involved with the Rural Assembly?
The Rural Squad is a program for rural leaders that connects leaders to each other, helps urban-based institutions engage with rural communities effectively, and offers the country a reliable network of rural problem solvers.
The Rural Women’s Summit is taking place October 27-29 in Greenville, South Carolina! The Summit will emphasize the role rural women play in creating a more quitable and inclusive nation. It is designed for rural practitioners, leaders, and advocates to articulate the broad civic, political, and cultural impact of women’s leadership in rural America, to name the ways rural women are agents of change, to call out the barriers rural women face every day, and to proclaim the powerful role rural women play in creating compassionate communities.
The Rural Youth Assembly is a two-day, site specific gathering for rural young people, ages 18-25 that will be held in the Rio Grande Valley in Spring 2020. The Assembly will focus on issues of equity and social justice, particularly related to rural communities of color. Participants will spend one day in leadership training and one at program sites in the region.
